"summary": "A scientific workshop on the Shortfin Squid (Illex argentinus) was held in Vigo, Spain, with the participation of Falkland Islands representatives. The event, organized by the Organization of Producers of Freezer Trawlers for Hake, Cephalopods and Other Species (OPPC3) and supported by the Sustainable Fisheries Partnership, aimed to build a regional database and update scientific knowledge regarding the abundance and exploitation status of the species. Participants from Brazil, Uruguay, Spain, China, and South Korea joined the workshop, which is part of an international scientific cooperation process that began in Chile, Panama, and Bangkok. The fishery operates across multiple nations' waters and lacks a fully operational regional governance framework for stock assessment and resource management. OPPC3 emphasized the importance of collaboration among fleets to improve information sharing and promote sustainable management of the resource.",
