"account": "NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Governor Bill Lee announced on Saturday that Frank Strada, the head of Tennessee's prison system, is resigning following the unsuccessful execution of Christa Pike. Strada informed the public that his departure is for the state's best interests, as an independent investigation will be conducted to determine the cause of the execution failure that occurred on Wednesday.\n\nChrista Pike, who was 18 at the time of the crime, was involved in the torture and murder of a classmate, Colleen Slemmer, out of jealousy. She was subsequently sentenced to death and placed on a ventilator, requiring medical attention as her attorneys confirmed in a court filing on Friday. The execution attempt ultimately failed, leaving both supporters and opponents of the death penalty demanding clarification.\n\nStrada's resignation comes after the state ordered an independent review into the circumstances surrounding Pike's execution. Pike's legal team suggested that issues with the IV lines may have been the root cause of the failure, as the pentobarbital drug was said to have entered her body through the intravenous lines instead of her bloodstream.",
