"summary": "Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party flagbearer, has vowed to rebuild La Pleasure Beach and restore jobs after its demolition. According to him, the beach was a significant social, economic, and cultural site in Ghana, serving as a major tourism destination and source of livelihood for thousands, particularly the youth.\n\nThe demolition of La Beach, which occurred on October 2, 2026, was carried out by the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), owners of Labadi Beach Hotel and La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra. Dr. Bawumia described the destruction as \"sad\" and \"wanton\", expressing concern over the destruction of movable assets belonging to businesses operating at the site.\n\nDr. Bawumia outlined a five-point recovery plan, which includes rebuilding the beach economy, issuing leases to individual businesses, and redesigning the area. According to MyJoyOnline Ghana, he also plans to work with businesses and stakeholders to restore economic activity at the site and make La Beach a major tourism and economic enclave.",
