"summary": "The Boston Red Sox have decided to sever ties with outfielder Jarren Duran, according to a projection of his $11.1 million salary for 2027. This decision comes as a result of a career-worst season, where Duran batted .207 with a .266 on-base percentage, 20 home runs, 69 RBI, and 21 stolen bases in 151 games. His 165 strikeouts were the highest on the team, and his performance resulted in a 76 OPS+ and 0.4 wins above replacement, a significant decline from his 2024 performance, which saw him post 9.0 WAR, win All-Star Game MVP, and finish eighth in AL MVP voting. The Red Sox will have to make a tough decision on Duran before the Nov. 20 deadline.",
