"summary": "The Joint Action Committee of four unions representing academic and non-academic staff at Lagos State universities have declared an indefinite strike, set to commence at midnight on Friday, 2nd October 2026. The unions – the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions, the National Association of Academic Technologists, and the Academic Staff Union of Universities – made the decision following the Lagos State Government's failure to implement the 2026 Federal Government-unions agreements. The affected institutions include Lagos State University, the Lagos State University College of Medicine, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, and Lagos State University of Education. The unions stated that they have exhausted all avenues for dialogue with the state government and urged the public to brace for the impact of the strike on academic activities.",
