"account": "Professor Paul Agada, a doctoral candidate in communication at North Dakota State University, has been named the first runner-up in the United States' 2026 Westphal Student Paper Competition. The competition was organized by the Iowa Communication Association. Agada's research focused on X, a social media platform, specifically its Community Notes feature, which enables users to add context to potentially misleading posts. His study examined the perception of users regarding the feature's effectiveness, credibility, and influence on their online behavior. The paper was published to address current concerns over misinformation's rapid spread on social media and to investigate alternative methods to professional fact-checking. Agada's work highlights how audiences are increasingly involved in verifying information online, challenging traditional gatekeeper systems. \"Unlike traditional fact-checking systems that rely primarily on professional organizations or institutional gatekeepers, Community Notes allows users to collaboratively provide additional context to posts considered potentially misleading,\" the study noted. Agada expressed his delight at the recognition, stating that it reflects the quality of his research and the significance of his subject matter, which is a critical issue in today's society.",
