"account": "Detroit Red Wings General Manager Shawn Horcoff addressed Simon Edvinsson's contract situation ahead of the team's opening game against the New York Rangers. Horcoff stated that Edvinsson remains a top priority for Detroit, but admitted they did not anticipate his departure from the team. Edvinsson returned to Sweden after negotiations failed to reach a contract agreement prior to the regular season. He was seen skating with his former organization, Frölunda, after the team selected him sixth overall in the 2021 NHL Draft. Horcoff described Edvinsson's departure as \"disappointing\" and emphasized that the Red Wings are actively working with Edvinsson's agents to finalize a contract. However, they have not revealed the specific issues hindering the deal, whether it be term, salary, structure, or a combination of factors. With Detroit playing meaningful games without one of their top defensemen, the situation has become more serious for both the team and Edvinsson.",
