"summary": "The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has defended its decision to remove unauthorized structures from the beachfront adjacent to the Labadi Beach Hotel and La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, citing the need to protect its investments and ensure the safety of workers and guests. In a media release dated October 2, 2026, SSNIT sought the intervention of the National Security Council Secretariat to address the persistent unlawful occupation and encroachment on the beachfront, which it considers a significant national hospitality and tourism asset. The Trust highlighted eight major risks associated with the encroachment, including safety and security threats, fire hazards, degradation of the coastal ecosystem, and reputational damage to Ghana's tourism industry. SSNIT emphasized that the operation aimed to restore the beaches to a safe and desirable state while maintaining public access.",
