"summary": "The Kennedy Center Honors will be held at Capital One Arena in Washington, D.C. on December 7. This marks the first time the ceremony will be held at a location other than the Kennedy Center. According to CBS News, the change comes as the Kennedy Center's main building is currently closed for safety assessments and amid ongoing legal and political battles over the center, including a proposed renovation project.\n\nThe Kennedy Center Honors is an annual gala performance that recognizes lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts. CBS News reported that Capital One Arena, which is home to the Washington Capitals hockey team and the Washington Wizards NBA basketball team, will host the event.\n\nThe reason for the change was not explicitly stated by the Kennedy Center, but according to the New York Times, the center is moving its marquee event off-site as it pushes for court approval of a plan to close its main building for a two-year renovation project.",
