"account": "Five foreign nationals have been charged with extortion-related crimes in British Columbia, according to the RCMP. The investigation began in June 2025 following an extortion report from co-owners of an auto dealership, who reported receiving \"extreme extortion demands.\" The suspects were allegedly subjected to acts of violence, including arson and shootings in Langley and Surrey, British Columbia. Through Project E_PURSUANCE, investigators identified the group and identified other criminal offenses, such as firearms trafficking and drug trafficking. Four men were arrested in Surrey on Thursday, while a fifth suspect, a resident of India, was apprehended at Toronto-Pearson International Airport. The operation resulted in the seizure of numerous dangerous items, including firearms, drugs suspected to be cocaine, fentanyl, and opium. Investigators expect more charges from policing partners in Western Canada in the near future, as they share evidence with colleagues across the country.",
