"summary": "Pargat Singh has been appointed as the new president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), replacing Amarinder Singh Raja Warring who resigned from the post. According to The Economic Times, an official notification signed by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal stated that the appointment takes effect immediately.\n\nThe leadership change comes ahead of the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections, with the Congress seeking to reorganise its state unit. Raja Warring had held the post of Punjab Congress president since 2022. As per NDTV and NDTV - India News, the change follows the replacement of the party's central in-charge last month, with Sachin Pilot taking over from Bhupesh Baghel.\n\nThe party also made other appointments, including Devinder Nishad and Alok Prasad as senior vice presidents, as reported by Hindustan Times. Raja Warring said he had conveyed his views on the state party organisation to Rahul Gandhi and believed that Punjab Congress in-charge Sachin Pilot may have decided it was time for him to step down.",
