"account": "Toronto-based actor Luke Kirby has joined the fourth season of Citytv crime drama \"Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent\" as Det.-Sgt. John Darcy. To prepare for his role, Kirby watched films directed by Canadian filmmaker David Cronenberg, including \"Videodrome\" and \"Crash,\" to immerse himself in the show's tone. Cronenberg, known for his unique style and provocative subject matter, guest stars in the second episode as a clinical psychiatrist who assists Darcy and Det.-Sgt. Frankie Bateman (played by Kathleen Munroe) in understanding the mind of a killer. Bateman's father, Levi Bateman, is portrayed by Cronenberg in the episode. The actor, who is well-regarded in Canadian and film culture, is described as a pleasant and genuine person, making his on-screen relationship with Munroe's character refreshing and enjoyable. The episode features a body part investigation, with Munroe praising the show's makeup artist for creating realistic effects. As Darcy replaces Aden Young's Det.-Sgt. Henry Graff, Bateman cycles through several partners before forming a new partnership with Darcy. The actors, who previously worked together in the 2009 episode of \"Flashpoint,\" found that their chemistry was immediate. Bateman's backstory reveals a childhood steeped in criminal studies, with her father's profession as a psychologist and journalist playing a significant role in shaping her career choices.",
