"account": "The 49th annual Kennedy Center Honors will be held at Washington's Capital One Arena, as opposed to the riverfront building that has been in the middle of a legal dispute over adding President Donald Trump's name to the structure. This year's prestigious awards ceremony will take place in the city's downtown area, according to a spokesperson for the Kennedy Center. No additional specifics were immediately accessible, and an explanation for the alteration was not provided. The center's board voted last month to shut down the renowned performing arts venue situated along the Potomac River waterfront following a federal judge's prohibition on the institution returning Trump's name to the building. President Donald Trump has expressed on social media that the center needed to close for safety repairs. He claimed the repairs would only take place if the board proceeded with plans to incorporate his name into the building. However, a federal judge has ruled twice that this can't occur without the approval of Congress, which has allocated $257 million for repairs. The president hosted the 2025 awards, with honorees including Sylvester Stallone and George Strait. He stated at the time that he would rename the facility the \"Trump Kennedy Center,\" and soon after, workers began placing his name on the building. The board of trustees, appointed by Trump, unanimously voted in favor of the change, which has been challenged in court since. In 1964, Congress designated the performing arts center as a living memorial to John F. Kennedy, the year following his assassination. The law explicitly forbids the board of trustees from making the center a memorial to anyone else or from adding another person's name to the building's exterior. The Kennedy Center Honors, which honor individuals for their lifetime contributions to American culture through the performing arts, were established in 1978. The honorees for 2026 are yet to be announced, according to the center's spokesperson.",
