"account": "Amazon's cloud computing arm announced on Friday a multi-year, US$1 billion investment in US communities hosting its data centers, addressing concerns about their environmental and economic impacts. The technology giant aims to tackle issues such as electricity demand and water usage in these areas. Data centers, essential for AI model training and operation, have faced opposition in communities nationwide due to their potential strain on local resources and infrastructure. AWS CEO Matt Garman emphasized the urgency of this investment, noting the global competition in AI development, where the leading country stands to gain significant economic and national security advantages. Over the past decade, Amazon had poured US$276 billion into data centers, with ongoing projects planned in several states, including Indiana, Louisiana, North Carolina, Virginia, and Mississippi. The new community investment plans will focus on education, job training, energy affordability, water and energy preservation, and other local priorities. AWS CEO stressed that the company is committed to achieving water positivity across its data centers by 2030, currently 75% of the way towards this goal.",
