"account": "US authorities have arrested 38-year-old Greg Lui, also known as \"Yiu Kong Lui,\" on allegations of smuggling over $300 million worth of computer servers to China, according to the Department of Justice. The servers, containing US-manufactured graphics processing units (GPUs), were allegedly intended for use in \"Super Intelligence\" (SI) programs, the department stated.\n\nProsecutors allege that Lui, who owned a technology company called Earthmade Computer Inc., used false paperwork to smuggle the servers through Malaysia and Singapore, countries where no such licenses are required, before illegally re-exporting them to China. The operation took place between 2023 and 2024.\n\nCalifornia prosecutor Bill Essayli emphasized the importance of protecting America's national security by preventing advanced Super Intelligence technology from being used to enhance adversaries' military capabilities. If convicted, Lui faces a maximum sentence of 50 years in prison. China has been rapidly closing the gap on the United States in the field of cutting-edge AI, making such actions particularly concerning.",
