"account": "Luxury villas in Marbella and across Spain have been linked to a major drug trafficking network, with investigators uncovering a sophisticated operation that laundered cocaine profits through real estate investments. Over three dozen raids led to the arrest of 27 individuals and dismantled the organisation, which had branches in Spain, Colombia, and Panama. The criminals used luxury real estate agencies to conceal the illicit funds, investing in developments and luxury homes, particularly in Ibiza, Marbella, and Madrid. This created two sources of income for the network: profits from cocaine trafficking and commissions for laundering services provided to other criminal groups. Seventy properties and 16 luxury villas were prohibited from sale following the bust, while 38 arrests were made in Spain, and one in the Dominican Republic. In addition to 40 high-end vehicles, weapons, and cryptocurrency, authorities seized over $1 million in cash and froze numerous assets. The investigation, which began in September 2023, has resulted in the shutdown of over 100 legal entities and the issuance of five international arrest warrants.",
