"account": "Former National Sports Authority (NSA) Director-General Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has expressed his disappointment in being suspended, while maintaining his composure as investigations unfold regarding allegations concerning the 2026 FIFA World Cup visa process. President John Dramani Mahama suspended Mr. Ankrah on October 1st after allegations emerged of his involvement in an arrangement that facilitated visas and travel for prospective attendees of the World Cup. Allegations indicate that around $623,000 was obtained from individuals seeking assistance with visa applications and travel arrangements for the tournament.\n\nSpeaking to JoySports following his suspension, Mr. Ankrah lamented that he was not given the chance to fully defend himself. He stated, \"I’m disappointed that I’ve not been heard. It is disappointing that we haven’t been able to have a discussion as to exactly what the situation is.\" Mr. Ankrah emphasized that he remains calm and is not inclined to react angrily. He explained that his primary focus before his suspension had been on preparing the Accra Sports Stadium and other NSA facilities for upcoming national assignments, including matches involving the Black Stars.\n\nThe suspension of Mr. Ankrah comes amid heightened scrutiny of the management of World Cup-related visa and travel arrangements. The allegations have prompted calls for a thorough investigation into the matter. In the wake of his removal, Professor Emmanuel Osei Sarpong has been appointed as the Acting Director-General of the NSA.",
