"account": "Tigst Assefa, an Ethiopian marathon runner, ran the third fastest marathon ever despite suffering a complete rupture of her right Achilles tendon. She finished the Berlin Marathon 68 seconds shy of the world record set by Ruth Chepng'etich at 2:09:56. Assefa felt pain in her Achilles from the 31st kilometre, but continued to run, eventually crossing the finish line 2 kilometres after the injury became apparent. She was flown to Munich for surgery soon after, with her coach stating that the surgery was successful within 24 hours. Assefa, who holds the women's world record, expressed her gratitude for the support she received and vowed to return and break the world record again.",
"summary": "Tigst Assefa ran the final two kilometres of the Berlin Marathon with a badly damaged Achilles tendon, which required immediate surgery to repair. She still ran the third-fastest women's marathon in history.",
