"account": "Magistrate Jill Prior dismissed an assault charge against Yarra councillor Stephen Jolly, who was accused of striking a gatecrasher during a 2024 election afterparty. The prosecution could not prove beyond reasonable doubt that Jolly intended to assault the woman, Estella Burrows. The incident occurred in a chaotic situation at Ziggy's Disco Lounge in Fitzroy on November 1, 2024, when uninvited protesters, wearing Halloween masks and carrying a megaphone, confronted Jolly. Burrows testified that Jolly struck her face with significant force, causing her to fear eviction from the venue. Jolly, who was elected mayor of Yarra less than three weeks after the incident, denied the allegation and blamed the prolonged political campaign for the incident.",
