"account": "St. Louis resident Michael Goessling, in his late 50s, discovered he is the son of celebrated singer Michael McDonald. The revelation came about due to a 23andMe DNA test taken by an unknown half-brother. Upon Goessling's appearance in the DNA test results, he was contacted and eventually met his biological mother on his 58th birthday. Shortly after, he connected with his biological father over the phone. Intrigued, Goessling asked his father what he did for a living, to which he replied that he was a musician and was set to perform in St. Louis soon.\n\nUpon hearing the news, Goessling exclaimed, \"Are you Michael McDonald?\" to which McDonald confirmed. The singer, who revealed his paternity in his 2023 memoir \"What a Fool Believes,\" expressed that he always carried guilt over the circumstances of Goessling's birth, but was relieved to know that his adoptive son was leading a good life. McDonald and Goessling finally met in person this summer, sharing a big hug. McDonald informed Goessling of his role as a grandfather, a fact that filled the musician with pride. McDonald, known for his solo career, stint with the Doobie Brothers, and brief time with Steely Dan, has produced hits such as \"What a Fool Believes\" and \"I Keep Forgettin’ (Every Time You're Near)\" and has won five Grammys.",
