"account": "The Southern Bridge in central Kyiv was struck by a Russian drone on October 1, according to officials. The attack caused damage to the bridge's support, barrier, road surface, and the protective concrete structure of the metro, as reported by Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko. Traffic on the bridge, including both metro and surface public transport, has been suspended. Emergency services were dispatched to the site, and eyewitness footage from residents showed flames and smoke billowing from the bridge. This marks the first time Russian drones have targeted one of Kyiv's bridges. Since late August, Russia has ramped up drone attacks on Kyiv, employing faster jet-powered drones around the clock, making them harder for Ukrainian air defenses to intercept. On the same day as the Southern Bridge attack, Russian drones also targeted other parts of Ukraine, resulting in at least six deaths and 38 injuries.",
"summary": "The latest strike follows other attacks on the Southern Bridge on Oct. 1, where two Russian drones hit near the bridge's supports. This was the first time Russian drones have targeted one of the capital's bridges.",
