"account": "British Columbia's police watchdog agency is probing the actions of officers following a man's suicide jump from a Metro Vancouver bridge over the weekend. The Independent Investigations Office confirmed in a statement that the incident occurred on Saturday after police were dispatched to the North Arm Bridge, which links Vancouver with Richmond and accommodates SkyTrain, bicycles, and pedestrians. Police and Metro Vancouver Transit Police responded to reports of a man near the bridge's railings but he ultimately leaped from the bridge. A search by the Canadian Coast Guard in the Fraser River has not located the man's body, and he is presumed deceased. The office is examining whether police conduct or negligence may have contributed to the man's death. The Canadian Press reported this story on October 1, 2026.",
