Physical Education Directors and sportspersons have expressed worries about the impact on the ground's use for sports and physical education activities, the potential loss of trees and birds, security issues, and parking concerns. The university has called for wider consultations with relevant stakeholders before making a decision and suggested examining alternative locations for the memorial complex.
