The attack took place during the celebration of Nigeria's 66th Independence Day. Local sources reported that the attackers targeted three houses, starting with the residence of an elderly man who had two children abducted. The assailants later broke through the fence of a man named Sikiru's compound, engaging him in a struggle before killing him. Sikiru's wife and two children were subsequently abducted.
