"account": "Yaw Ampofo Ankrah has been suspended as Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) amid allegations of visa facilitation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The Secretary to the President, Dr Calitus Mahama, signed a letter communicating the decision to Mr Ankrah. This follows accusations that up to US$623,000 was collected from prospective travellers seeking assistance with visa and travel arrangements for the World Cup, triggering a police investigation. Mr Ankrah appeared before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and denied the allegations. The NSA maintains it did not authorize any visa facilitation service or an office to collect money. The Minority in Parliament called for Mr Ankrah's dismissal pending investigations, following a petition alleging that individuals connected to the NSA received money from prospective World Cup travellers. The controversy highlights scrutiny over the management of Ghanaian sporting institutions, with the police investigation ongoing. Associate Professor Emmanuel Sarpong has been appointed as acting Director-General.",
