"account": "In his Independence Day address in Abuja, Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, pledged not to vacation abroad if elected as President in the 2027 general elections. Obi stated that he would use his four-year term to travel across Nigeria, interact with citizens and understand their challenges. He promised to lead by example and visit various states, including Zamfara, Borno, Kwara, Ebonyi, Edo, and Ekiti. Obi also promised to make governance measurable, accountable and focused on the welfare and productivity of Nigerians, aiming for tangible improvements within the first year of his administration. He criticized the APC-led government for failing to address critical issues like poverty, out-of-school children, and insecurity, despite their promises in 2023. Obi lamented that Nigeria's major challenge is not a lack of resources but the failure of leaders to convert them into human development, productivity, security, and shared prosperity.",
