"summary": "Nigeria is marking its 66th anniversary. Former Sokoto Governor Aliyu Wamakko has called on Nigerians to promote unity, peace, and mutual understanding.\n\nThe National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda, has said Nigeria is moving towards becoming a stronger and more prosperous nation despite economic challenges. According to Yilwatda, the administration of President Bola Tinubu inherited a difficult economic situation and introduced reforms to address longstanding structural challenges. These reforms include the removal of the petrol subsidy and foreign exchange reforms.\n\nYilwatda cited World Bank figures showing Nigeria's real Gross Domestic Product grew by 4.2 per cent in the first half of 2026, and gross foreign reserves stood at $51.9 billion at the end of July, as signs of macroeconomic stabilisation.",
