The 41-year-old striker’s departure occurred a day before Portugal’s match against Denmark in the Nations League. Ronaldo announced his decision on Instagram, stating he left following a press conference by coach Jorge Jesus and a conversation with Portuguese Football Federation President Pedro Proenca. He assured Portuguese people he would explain the reasons behind his departure \"in due course.\" Ronaldo clarified that he would continue to support Portugal and his teammates, wishing them the best of luck.\n\nThe Football Federation of Portugal confirmed Ronaldo’s absence from the camp but stated that preparations for the upcoming matches against Denmark and Norway would proceed as planned with the remaining 24 players. Portugal’s squad arrived at their hotel without Ronaldo and Jesus.\n\nEarly reports suggested this incident could signal an end to Ronaldo’s long international career and potential issues of authority for Jesus, who has only been in charge of the national team for two matches. Ronaldo, Portugal’s record goalscorer and most-capped player, had previously expressed frustration with the media and hinted at leaving the team if Jesus did not want him.",
