"account": "The West Java government has halted the construction of a data center near Jatiluhur Dam, sparking concerns over the project's environmental impact and strain on local water resources. The facility, owned by Singapore-based BDx Data Centers, was to generate 640 megawatts of IT capacity, with the first phase of 120 megawatts set to begin operations in early 2027. The firm had not obtained the necessary environmental impact assessment (Amdal) nor building approval (PBG) before commencing construction. West Java Governor Dedi Mulyadi, who attended the project's groundbreaking ceremony on July 28, called for the permit process to be expedited to avoid the project being labeled \"problematic.\" The dam supplies the primary source of clean water to Jakarta and is crucial for irrigation in western West Java.",
"summary": "The planned data center site, owned by Singapore-based firm BDx Data Centers, is located roughly 5 kilometers from the Jatiluhur Dam, the main source of clean water for the Greater Jakarta area and irrigation for farms in the western part of West Java.",
